Begonia State School P&C have received not only a huge pat on the back- but $1,000 as well.
This is the third year for the Awards, which are sponsored by Commonwealth Bank and recognize the volunteer efforts of parents in state schools throughout Queensland.
Begonia State School P&C won for the Darling Downs South West) region.
Mooloolaba State School P&C was named State P&C of the Year.
P&Cs Qld President Gayle Walters says the 2017 Awards attracted an increasing number of high-quality nominations, but some P&Cs were reluctant to “blow their own trumpets”.
“P&Cs work tirelessly to enhance the outcomes for students in state schools. Our 2017-member survey showed that 84% of P&Cs donated up to $60,000 annually to their school and 49% of P&C executive committees contributed more than 10 volunteer hours per week.”
“P&Cs across the state deserve to be recognized for this extremely valuable and important contribution,”
Representatives from the winning P&Cs were welcomed at the P&Cs Qld State Conference dinner at the Sofitel Hotel Brisbane, where the awards were presented in front of more than 350 conference delegates and guests.
