The provision of health services in Augathella is that much better thanks to the hard work of our local hospital Auxillary.
You might have seen them at the Easter Races with their photo wall, continuing from their work last year when $15,000 was raised for much needed hospital equipment.
The dedicated auxiliary has been using a mix of traditional fundraising events and government applications for community grant programs to support the region’s health facilities.
Last year, the Augathella auxiliary raised $15,000 to purchase hospital equipment through events such as the Melbourne Cup Calcutta, triathlons and local fundraisers at the Easter races.
South West Hospital and Health Service (SWHHS) Chief Executive Glynis Schultz says she is continually amazed by the generosity of small local communities and their fundraising efforts for local health services.
She praised auxiliary volunteers at a community engagement morning tea at Augathella for all their hard work.
“Our volunteers’ fundraising makes our health services more welcoming and our patients’ stays more enjoyable,” Ms Schultz says.
“The South West HHS board and executives value the spirit of generosity and commitment that helps provide our patients and clients with that little bit of extra comfort and support.”
“At a time when our small communities are facing tough times, I’m always surprised by the generous donations to our services that I see coming across my desk, it’s quite evident that our health services are at the very heart of our communities,” Ms Schultz says.
The Augathella auxiliary is looking forward to continuing the great fundraising work that the hospital and MPHS staff have been tirelessly carrying out.
It’s a big win for South West health services with local auxiliaries such as Augathella on board to help out in any way they can.
