Cunnamulla welcomed a brand new touch football mentoring program called Catch Me If You Can, to town earlier this week.
NRL legend Petero Civoniceva took to the touch field for a game with the participating young ones, Constable Erik Tilse and Constable Christopher Randall.
Catch Me If You Can is a multi-partnership facilitated by the PCYC, including operational police officers, police liaison officers and community leaders – all who act as mentors to our youth.
The program is all about reinforcing the value of communication, teamwork, trust and leadership. And what better way to do it then through sport.
Throughout the course of the Catch Me If You Can program, the mentors hope to establish and further develop a positive community – police relationship with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community.
As the program progresses, it will highlight the important role that our Indigenous youths play in the community, and encourage them to be future leaders and mentor
This program strengthens the vital role Indigenous youth hold within the community, as potential future leaders and mentors themselves.
