It’s been another busy week here in the Murweh Shire, check out the Charleville Regional Report which gives us a glimpse into the community election forum, a 100th birthday party, an update on Hotel Corones plus more!
And don’t miss our special election report, the Next 4 where we introduce 4 more councillor nominees and get the community to ask some tough questions to the mayoral candidates.
Councillor Candidates
We’re getting closer and closer to March 19 and this week we talk to another four councillor nominees.
Most of the Shire has got to know our candidates over the last few weeks, and this week we’re introducing another four.
They had their say at the community election forum but now they have the opportunity to give us a proper introduction.
You’ll hear from Shaun, Donna, David and Greg.
Community Election Forum
Following a very successful Community Election Forum we asked locals to put the tough questions to our mayoral candidates this week.
There was a great turn out to the forum with convincing speeches and answers to questions provided to community members.
In this week’s report we asked some local community members to put forward their big questions to the Mayoral candidates, so check out what they had to say.
Adrian Vowles Cup
The 42 degree heat wasn’t enough to stop our local boys and girls from battling it out on the footy field in the Adrian Vowles Cup.
The games were short but they were full of skill and passion, as eleven teams played each other in a round robin style competition.
The Cups namesake, Adrian Vowles was there amongst the action promoting the game that we all love so much.
Western District RSL Conference
RSL members from across the Western District met in Charleville for their annual conference.
RSL branches and RSL clubs might be easily confused but this party of RSL members is making sure there’s no confusion about just what they do.
100th Birthday Celebrations for Alice White
It’s not every day someone in our towns turns 100, and last week Plus More had the privilege of celebrating with Alice White.
Well over 100 people turned up to help celebrate Alice reaching the turn of the century – a fitting amount of people for a local lady who has touched so many lives.
Hotel Corones Update
The dust is nearly all gone, some of the hotel rooms are ready for action, and the countdown until opening time is well and truly happening!
Remember back in early January what Hotel Corones used to look like? Dust, cobwebs – you name it, they had it.
Well it’s taken a lot of hard work from the owners, and the community, to get it to where it is now.
And in this report we get to tell you when the bar will be opening!
