On Thursday and Friday Charleville hosted a rugby league team from Buderim State School.
St Mary’s principal Michael ward and Charleville State School principal Masina Taule’alo combined to produce a team for the Buderim boys to play with 3 players from Augathella helping out.
After two games there wasn’t a point scored between the teams with some strong defence from both sides.
St Mary’s principal Michael Ward was delighted with the event.
“A highlight was they the way the teams interacted after the games.” he said. “There is no doubt about the natural friendliness of the Charleville kids. Hopefully this will be the first of many trips from the Buderim boys.”
Charleville State School provided a meal on Thursday and the St Mary’s parents cooked up a barbecue for the players and support crew after the games.
Buderim State School organiser Shane Allen said the trip was a great opportunity for the boys to experience the west.
The trip was the result of an idea from Murweh Shire Councillor Shaun Radnedge, who wanted to give the kids from the coast a taste of the bush.
