They are out and about – The Police in Cunnamulla and Charleville who this week joined with Eulo Police and Cunnamulla CIB to run traffic operations in the Cunnamulla area.
Police say we can expect more and they’re focusing on the Fatal Five:
speeding; drink and drug driving; failure to wear a seat belt; driving while fatigued; and distraction and inattention.
Senior Constable Casey Leishman says July is one of the busiest months on the road in the division.
“Lots of tourist vehicles pass through due to the cooler climate and Cunnamulla’s position on a route that has proven to be popular with tourists travelling to the west, central and north areas of Queensland.”
Police hope the operation will highlight the dangers of long distance driving including how important it is that motorists, including locals, rest and revive, as well as be situationally aware at all times.
