Here’s the daily wrap up of all the action, as the cyclists continue their journey from Augathella to Blackall, Queensland as they continue on their ‘ADVENTURES’ to Longreach, raising much needed funds for the RFDS.
Another huge day for day 6 with over 220kms peddled in the hot sun from Augathella to Blackall, Queensland. We started at the Ellengowen Hotel for breakfast aka ‘Smileys’. We were happy to learn that all of the leftover food from the crew gets donated to the men’s shed in Augathella.
Our first stint was 60kms stopping on the side of the road for homemade refreshments from the support crew.
Then we peddled another 60kms to Tambo, Queensland to stop off, have lunch and purchase a Tambo Teddie or two as a souvenir.
We met up with local police officer senior constable, Cameron Munro who joined the riders for the next 60km leg, donning one of our red suits for the journey. It has been great to have our boys in blue supporting us on this adventure.
The last 40kms of the day flew by and we were greeted with another fabulous welcoming committee in Blackall. Kath, one of the Royal Flying Doctor Service nurses, is a part of the mental health and suicide awareness team in Outback Queensland. Kath took the day out of her holiday, to follow us and cheer the team on at different points of the ride throughout the week. It was a pleasure to have her support on this journey.
We finished off in Blackall with the team quite exhausted after a hot 220km day but also exhilarated by the feat that we have achieved so far.
The final day of cycling today! Robbie McEwen is joining us to give the team that extra push to make it through the last leg of the ride into Longreach, Queensland.
We are humbled and encouraged by the amazing support we receive in each town. This event is to help these amazing outback Queensland communities with mental health and suicide awareness.
We are proud to announce we are at $292,000 with only $8,000 to go!
