Works to strengthen three bridges along the Diamantina Developmental Road between Charleville and Quilpie will begin this week.
The $1.425 million project would start on the Bulloo River Channel and Bulloo River Bridges first with the works expected to be completed by early March, weather permitting, and from there crews will progress to the Paroo River Bridge.
Strengthening these bridges will increase their load capacity, allowing heavier vehicles to use the road to transport freight and livestock.
Watch for traffic restrictions during construction.
All bridges will have a speed limit reduction and will be reduced to one lane, with traffic control in place.
The Paroo River Bridge will also have full road closures up to an hour at a time for six days during construction between early March to early April, weather permitting.
