The Charleville Fishing and Restocking Club will be holding their Mega Family Fun Day starting at 9am this Saturday at the Fishing Club grounds.
And mega fun it will be! The bureau is predicting Saturday to be a barmy 27 degrees, so everyone – both young and old – are encouraged to come on down and show your support for the club.
“I’d definitely come down to the Mega Family Fun Day, especially if it’s going to be that warm! It’s to raise money for our restocking program and we’ve put on a whole heap of events for the community to get involved in,” says Kristy Frost, Secretary of the Fishing and Restocking Club.
The day will be filled with competitions for all ages, all helping the club achieve their fundraising goal. Some of the activities include a Cent Auction, Boot Sale, Tug-O-War and Echnidna Faced.
Kristy says it’s not just Fishing Club members who are invited tomorrow.
“It’s an all ages event, with something there for everybody. We’ve sat down and thought of some really unique activities for everybody to play, and you don’t have to be a part of the Fishing Club to turn up tomorrow,” she says.
Of course there is a serious reason as to why the club is raising money, and that is so they can restock the local rivers and catchments with native fish.
The fingerlings program, which is run every year, helps to rejuvenate the population.
“It’s important to restock the rivers to keep the fish population up. Also by having the native species in the river we are helping to get rid of the carp population,” says Kristy.
The Fishing Club is looking forward to seeing a big crowd turn up to enjoy the activities and the warm weather while it lasts!
