Come one, come all, and come prepared for plenty of laughs and a great family night out this Saturday. What’s on? Well the Charleville State School Fete of course!
2015 Fete Convenor, Melissa Vaggs, says each and every year the State School tries to make the fete a family friendly event – and this year is proving no different!
“We’ve got three rides, lots of food and lots of fun,”
“The water wars are back again so the kids will have to bring a spare pair of clothes and this year there is a pie throwing booth – so the kids will get to throw pies at the teachers, so that will be a bit of fun!”
Melissa says the State School P & C aimed for the fete to be as interesting as possible and as inexpensive as possible, with things like show bags, and glow in the dark stuff like crazy hair, which don’t cost much.
“The rides this year are only going to be $5 each. So you don’t have to buy an armband that will cost you sort of $20 per child. If you only want your child to go on one ride, it’s only going to cost you $5,” she says.
And what are the rides this year I hear you ask?
“We’ve got the cup and saucer ride, we’ve got a big huge slide, and there is going to be gladiator duals. So there is something for all the age groups, something for the bigger kids, something for the little ones, and something for in between,” says Melissa.
The aim of the fete is to raise money for the P & C, who will then go on to fund much needed items for the school.
“The Fete is our major fundraiser for the year, and all the money raised will go to the P & C ,”
“So anything that the school may need, we’ve bought computers and fridges. They might want books, the Principal just comes to us and says we need this amount of money, and we’ll supply it,” she says.
Gates open at 4pm for the Fete, and it is a free entry event, but everyone is urged to buy tickets into the $2 raffle – with an awesome major prize this year!
“The RSL have donated an iPad Air for the major raffle prize, which is fabulous and very generous,”
“But there will also be ham wheels and a multi draw raffle as well,” says Melissa.
So come on down to the State School Fete, Saturday 17th October.
