Look up in the sky tonight and you’ll be able to witness the passing of planets seen only every 2000 years.
To the naked eye it might seem like Jupiter and Venus are colliding, when really they are but 6.7 billion kilometres apart.
A few tips from the Jane at the Cosmos Centre:
“Look to the Western Sky, those two bright “stars” are Venus and Jupiter.
“The brightest star is Venus at just over 41 million km from earth, then Jupiter which is a mere 628 million km.”
While Venus will look bigger than Jupiter to the naked eye, in reality it is Jupiter that is so much bigger
