Around 40 of our local kids left C & K Kindergarten in 2015, and soon will be starting prep.
C & K Kindergarten teacher Mel, says the kids are more then raring to go in 2016.
“We have a wall here at the kindy, which has pictures of the schools, and we’ve also got the uniforms hanging up there too,”
“We’ve taken pictures of the kids and stuck them under their respective schools, and we’ve spoken about what’s going to happen this year, how it all works,”
“The kids have been reacting so well to all the talk about ‘big school’, they were even telling us what you have to do when you’re at school, so they’re all really keen to start,” says Mel.
The prep transition programs which took place in term 4 of 2015 at both of the primary schools, were a huge help to both parents and kids.
“All of the parents have been participating in the prep transition programs which has been really helpful”
“The kids all headed off on their Friday’s and came back to kindy and all they wanted to talk about was what they did at school,” says Mel.
Moving onto prep is a big change for our kids, so C & K wanted to make sure it went as smoothly as possible.
“In the last term here we really focused on preparing the kids for prep, because we didn’t want to get them too anxious about school,”
“We haven’t needed to hold anybody back this year, they’re all quite ready to go,” Mel says.
Throughout the year, the kindy teachers have monitored the kids learning to see if they’re ready for school. This includes looking at their developmental skills, their learning skills and also their social skills.
Enrolment for Kindergarten 2016 is now open, and parents are encouraged to enrol their children so they are in the best position for starting school come 2017.
