The opposition leader, Annastacia Palaszcuk this morning announced $40 million as part of the Labor tourism policy over four years towards tourism across the state.
In the surrounds of Airlie Beach she said it’s all part of Labor’s plan to build jobs across the state and combat falling tourism figures.
“There is an enormous opportunity in Queensland. Tourism brings over $20 million dollars to the Queensland economy every single year.”
She’s even said she’ll revive the old slogan; “beautiful one day, perfect the next.”
“We want to see more tourism numbers, more bed nights, more people visiting the regions which has the flow on effects through the whole economy,” she said.
Despite announcing she’ll cut down on cabinet ministers to inject more money into frontline services; the opposition leader also said she would appoint a member from senior cabinet to the tourism portfolio.
