As the member for Warrego Ann Leahy joins with LNP Leader Tim Nicholls serving up sharp criticism of his appointment, new South West Hospital and Health Board Chair Jim McGowan says he’s planning a listening tour of the region as soon as possible.
The controversial appointment of the non-local, Mr McGowan, to the $100K position has drawn a raft of criticism with the appointment labelled as “Jobs for Labor mates” by State Member Ann Leahy.
Mr McGowan says he’s looking forward to meeting our communities and staff, hearing what they have to say and has had high praise for his predecessor.
“Former board chair Lindsay Godfrey was passionate about engaging and consulting with local communities and staff at every stage and involving them in the decision-making process.”
“I will be dedicating my time to continuing and furthering the work of the board and the health service throughout the South West”
Mr McGowan also congratulated new board members Ray Chandler, Karen Tully and Stewart Gordon on their appointments.
“All three have been appointed for an initial period of 12 months and will bring significant experience and skills that will be highly valued by the continuing board.”
Existing board member Heather Hall has been reappointed, while board members Fiona Gaske, Dr John Scott and Claire Alexander were not up for reappointment and are continuing in their roles.
