Mr Michael Ward has moved from St Peters School in Caboolture to take on the principal’s role at St Mary’s Catholic School in Charleville.
Mr Ward said he is delighted at the quality the of the children at St Mary’s, especially with their honest, open approach and willingness to engage.
“I grew up on a farm near a small town and went to a country school, so I was really looking forward to coming here to experience the unique sense of community that schools in towns like Charleville have.” he said.
“My wife Madonna and I have been made very welcome by both the school community and the wider community here.”
Mr Ward said the strength of the leadership team and the work of former principal Ms Louise Pfingst, made his transition to the job so much smoother, with the school working to a proven two pillar approach.
“The entire Toowoomba Diocese has a ‘Two Pillar’ approach to education, firstly forming a cornerstone of academic achievement, where every student has the opportunity to experience academic success. The second pillar is that the children see the loving face of Jesus in the way we all treat each other.” he said.
Mr Ward then explained that maintaining the dignity of the child by educating them was a very practical and real way of ensuring the two pillars worked together.
“With our energetic and enthusiastic staff, I’m looking forward to working with the children and parents to fulfil our goals this year.”
