South West Hospital and Health Service are about to kick off a programme in Charleville that’ll help knock us all into shape.
South West Hospital and Health Service Charleville-based dietitian Jessica Phillips says if you’ve had it with dieting and counting calories but want to be more active and energetic, then the new program being run in Charleville next month could be for you.
“SHAPE Shifters was a seven-week program designed to help people develop healthy lifestyle habits that would last them for life.”
“Carrying excess weight, particularly around your middle, increases your risk of developing chronic diseases such as heart disease, type 2 diabetes and some cancers.’’
“These diseases are largely preventable with the help of some simply lifestyle adjustments.’’
Ms Phillips says the SHAPE Shifters program focussed on four key aspects of health – behaviour, nutrition, physical activity and wellbeing.
“The program also allows you to be part of a group of people sharing the same health goals and motivating each other to move forward.’’
The SHAPE Shifters program starts on 7 June and offered the option of ongoing support after the end of the seven weeks.
The program would be held in Room 6 at Charleville Hospital Community and Allied Health.
Ms Phillips asks that when registering, all participants should indicate their preferred starting time for the program sessions, whether 4.30 pm or 5.30 pm.
“Registered participants will then receive a text message or phone call to confirm the starting time once this has been decided upon.’’
To register interest in the program, call or text Charleville Allied Health on 0438 337 752 and include your name, best contact number and preferred starting time.
