Today marks the start of Queensland Women’s Week an expansion on International Women’s Day and we’re celebrating all the incredible things our local ladies do!
The inaugural week has the theme: Good for her. Great for us. When women achieve, Queensland succeeds.
Across the state events and activities will be taking place and there is plenty on here in Charleville!
Donna Enders from Far West Indigenous Family Violence Service is one of the organisers of events around town.
“Women in general, we don’t get recognised for what we do so it’s a week which is all about giving the women who inspire us the opportunity to be pampered.
“We have a lot of women in our communities who do a lot so it’s about recognising them,” says Donna.
This morning the ladies took on a bit of Tai Chi up at the swimming pool and there is a bunch of things on for the rest of the week:
– Tuesday 8th March, International Women’s Day Pamper day at Healthy Ageing from 9am – 1pm includes: Guest Speakers, Tai Chi, Line Dancing, Hair Cuts, Finger Nails, Facials and Eyebrows.
– Saturday 12th March, Women’s Pamper Day at the Charleville Racecourse 2pm -6pm includes: free pamper including basic haircuts, eyebrow waxing, facials, nails and massage. Community and Information Stalls will also be available. An afternoon tea will be put on for $5 which will support Karen Edwards with her Black Comedy Pathway.
“These events are funded by the Queensland YWCA and the Queensland Government and we would also like to thank Murweh Shire Council and Healthy Ageing for jumping on board,” says Donna.
