Multicultural Affairs Minister Stirling Hinchliffe is encouraging Queenslanders to celebrate Harmony Day, which is being marked throughout the region and Australia today.
“This year’s Harmony Day theme ‘Everyone Belongs’ aims to bring people together to celebrate Queensland’s great cultural diversity.”
“Coinciding with the UN International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, Harmony Day is about inclusiveness, respect and creating a sense of belonging for everyone.”
Organisers say this year schools, kindies and community organisations throughout Queensland are celebrating Harmony Day through a series of events.
The Minister says the pollies will be getting into it today.
“Along with my parliamentary colleagues, I’ll be wearing my orange ribbon in support of Harmony Day. I’ll also be hosting a Harmony Day breakfast at Parliament House, with representatives from Queensland’s multicultural communities. “
Harmony Day supports our multicultural communities and serves to make Queensland a more inclusive place.
