Water users in the Great Artesian Basin have an opportunity to review and comment on proposed changes to the management of water in the Great Artesian Basin.
great-artesian-basinThe proposed Great Artesian Basin and Other Regional Aquifers (GABORA) plan will replace the current Water Resource Plan (Great Artesian Basin) when it expires on September 1 2017. It was first put in place in 2006.
There are changes proposed to the current management plan and I encourage people to view them so they can have a say before public submissions close on April 17, 2017.
People can view the draft water plan and the draft water management protocol which will implement parts of the water plan.
There is also a draft water entitlement notice which contains a number of changes to water licenses in the Great Artesian Basin.
The Department web site makes all these documents available, as well as a Statement of Intent about the new plan.
There are also fact sheets about specific water management issues.
The web site address is www.dnrm.qld.gov.au/water/catchments-planning/catchments/great-artesian-basin.
To make a submission, people can download the form included in the Statement of Intent or go online to www.getinvolved.qld.gov.au.
