As the Commonwealth Games baton made it way through the shire, two students from St May’s School in Charleville represented the region with pride on Thursday.
School captain Siddhant Sachdeva and Amelia O’Toole carried the baton through the town, while Amelia’s brother Kyle also carried the baton in Augathella.
Amelia can claim another honour, as on Saturday 3rd March she competed at the 2018 Queensland State Titles for Boxing where she won Gold in the Under 13, under 34kg weight class.
Winning in a bout of 3 x 1.5 minute rounds against opponent Mia Keely from Bundaberg, Amelia now prepares for her next big competition in the Novice Titles in June followed by the Golden Gloves in August.
Amelia has been training for over a year, training 3 days per week.
We congratulate both of these fine young people for their contributions to sport and to their community.
