The Dawnee Express Steam Train pulled into the Charleville Station, on time and on target last Friday.
The classic stream train journey turned heads and saw the message to save the Bilby spread across the towns from Brisbane to the West.
Carrying with it – The message that the Charleville Bilby Experience Centre is a must see.
Its arrival heralded a massive weekend of celebrations to mark the official opening of the Centre on National Save the Bilby Day.
On hand for the opening with Mayor Annie Liston was Australian icon, Dawn Fraser, for the official ribbon cutting.
Come Saturday night the swing and swank swung into action as the Fur Ball kicked off bringing a 1930’s elegance to town.
Fancy Dress, and a masterful mix of swing, jazz and modern classics made for an event that will, we are told, be long remembered.
The “Must see’’ Bilby Experience is now set to become one of the South West’s best tourist attractions and is destined to continue its vital work in the salvation of the endangered Bilby species.
Everything marked by an experienced locals will long cherish.
